We took advantage of the weather this week and used real snow to build our version of an igloo. It was not the right kind of snow to build with so we had to make a few modifications to our technique.
What a great way to spend a day at school! The igloo looks great, fantastic team work. I wish we had done things like that when we were at school! I really enjoyed looking at your p7 blog. There is some super photos of you all together. It is nice to keep in touch with what the class is doing and achieving. Elise's mum, Helen.
We learned a lot about snow as a material for building, how the temperature affected the build quality of the snow, how important the catenary shape is for strength and organising and working as a team. As our igloo gradually melts we can reflect on the sustainablility of using this kind of technology. It will naturally 'leave no trace'.
We tried to make igloo's when we were peedie but they were not as good as your one, they would usually collapse.Well done it looked like great fun. Ellie's Dad, Roy.

Looks like you had a really fun day thanks to Ms MacKay for allowing you to build the igloo.
